Dr. Sarah Zellnitz-Neugebauer is a pharmacist by training. She currently holds the position of Senior Scientist at Area II “Advanced Formulations” at the Research Center Pharmaceutical Engineering (RCPE) in Graz (AT), where she is leading the Inhalation group and coordinating the different activities in this field. During her PhD at the Graz Technical University (AT) in the field of dry powder inhalers (DPIs) she gained expertise in particle engineering via surface modification and detailed material characterization. Meanwhile, her research focuses on tailoring DPI formulations via mechanistic understanding of the interplay of material properties, formulation properties, adhesive-cohesive force balance and drug detachment. Recently, she also took up the field of co-processing of API combinations for inhalation therapy, leading an FWF-funded Hertha-Firnberg project (Grant No. T1105).
